Neck ring

This bronze neck ring was found in a hoard of native and Roman objects deposited at Lamberton Moor in Berwickshire as a gift to the gods. Neck rings of this type are found in northern England and southern Scotland, products of native craftsmen.

The neck ring is of a type known as a beaded torc, although in this case the beads are stylised, not real. The bar and beaded sections were cast separately, and the incised decoration was probably done after casting. It is in poor condition.

The Lamberton Moor hoard is a collection of native and Roman objects. It included a number of native bronze cups, elaborate Roman pans with decorated handles, a neck ring and two finger rings of native work and three Roman brooches.
