This bronze belt buckle was found at the site of the Roman fort at Mumrills in Stirlingshire. It was used sometime between 140 and 165 AD.

Bronze openwork semicircular belt buckle with two scrolled ends inside, from Mumrills

Belts were an essential item of clothing for a soldier. Belt buckles, strap ends, and metal studs, some quite elaborate, survive more often than the leather.
