This iron missile head is an object meant to be thrown at an enemy, perhaps from a throwing spear. It was found at the site of the Roman fort at Newstead in Roxburghshire. The weapon was used sometime between 80 and 180 AD.

There were two classes of Roman soldiers: the elite legionary and the ordinary auxiliary, each with its own equipment. Every soldier, infantry and cavalry, was fully equipped. Military equipment was mass produced.
