Add to album

These four bronze axeheads, two pieces of a sword, and two staples and rings from a cauldron are part of a hoard found at Dalduff at Kilkerran in Ayrshire. The objects were probably buried as gifts to the gods sometime between 950 and 750 BC.

The sword is a Scandinavian type and was probably old when it was buried.

Valuable and prestigious objects were often buried as gifts to the gods in the Late Bronze Age.
