Coil of bronze wire

This spiral coil of bronze wire, probably a dress ornament, was found in a peat bog at Carradale on Kintyre in Argyll. It was probably imported from Continental Europe between 950 and 750 BC.

Spiral coil of copper alloy wire, probably an import from Germany, from a moss at Carradale, Kintyre

This is the only example of this type of dress ornament from Scotland. As an exotic import, it would have been particularly prestigious.
