Sword

This bronze sword was found at Poldar Moss in Stirlingshire. It dates from between 1150 and 950 BC.

The sword is leaf-shaped, with two rivet holes in each wing, one with a rivet surviving. There is a large slot in the grip to secure an organic handle.

Technological advances in bronze casting in the late Bronze Age resulted in new and better weapons.
