Chisel

This bronze chisel was found near Perth in Perthshire. It dates from around 1500 to 1150 BC.

The chisel is a type called a shouldered chisel. It has a transverse cutting edge.

Chisels were specialised woodworking tools, and may have been the property of specialist carpenters.
