Axehead

This massive bronze axehead was found at Lawhead in Lanarkshire. It is much larger than normal-sized bronze axeheads, and must have been a conspicuous status symbol.

Massive bronze flat axe, from Lawhead, Pentland Hills

Massive axeheads, far bigger and better than ordinary axeheads, were one form of conspicuous consumption during the early Bronze Age.
