Mirror or cosmetic palette
Add to album

This stone disc, used as a mirror or cosmetic palette, was found at Glen Muick in Aberdeenshire. It was used sometime between 300 BC and 400 AD.

The stone has been carefully scalloped into fifteen divisions.

Stone was not only used by early people as a building material or to make tools. Prestigious weapons such as maceheads, jewellery, cosmetic items such as this, and a range of everyday objects were also made from different types of stone.
