These two silver medals, one from the 93rd Highlanders and one from the New Zealand 50th Regiment, were awarded to Lieutenant Oliver Goldsmith for the Relief of Lucknow in India in 1858.

Both medals bear the head and shoulders of Queen Victoria in profile.

The Indian Mutiny took fourteen months to crush. During that time 11,000 troops were killed, mostly from heat-stroke and disease. At the Relief of Lucknow in March 1858, two Scottish regiments won fifteen Victoria Crosses.
