Sporran, of Calcutta Scottish regiment

This horsehair sporran is of the Calcutta Scottish regiment. Dating from between 1914 and 1920, it was worn by Major C.H. Elmes.

The sporran has a silver-mounted clasp.

Between 1820 and 1920, the barracks occupied by the Highland Regiments in India varied from ancient mud and stone fortresses to more elaborate stations like the one at Calcutta.
