Woollen hose of the Calcutta Scottish regiment

This pair of woollen hose is of the Calcutta Scottish Regiment and dates from 1914-20. The hose were worn by Major C.H. Elmes.

The hose are knitted in a green and white diamond pattern.

Between 1820 and 1920, the barracks occupied by the Highland Regiments in India varied from ancient mud and stone fortresses to more elaborate stations like the one at Calcutta.
