Jug, made at Greenock

This jug was made in the mid 19th century at Thomas Shirley & Co.'s pottery in Greenock.

The jug has a blue transfer-printed 'Saxon' pattern. It is marked 'T.S. & Co'.

Thomas Shirley and Co. took over the pottery at Greenock in the 1840s. It ceased production in the early years of the 20th century.
