Bottle (1 of 2)

This shows one side of a glazed stoneware bottle which dates from the first half of the 19th century. The bottle is shaped like a mason's mell - a tool used with a chisel in order to split a stone.

The inscription within the inverted shield reads 'JAMES MELVILLE / STEAMER / 'QUEEN'.
