Writing sampler

This writing sampler is dated 17 March 1828 and is signed by Ann Murray. It is written on pink paper which has an embossed border.

The title of the script - 'Religion of all concerns is of the greatest Importance' - is followed by a verse on religion.

Although samplers were created mainly to demonstrate needlework skills, they could also involve reading, writing and religion.
