Weights, used in burgh of Dunbar, East Lothian

To ensure fair trade, burghs each kept a set of standard weights and measures against which those in commercial use could be checked. These bronze weights are part of the set used from 1826 in the burgh of Dunbar in East Lothian.

The largest weight is 56 lb, followed by a 28 lb, a 14 lb, a 7 lb, a 4 lb and a 2 lb. Each weight is inscribed with 'Royal Burgh of Dunbar/ County of Haddington/ 1826' and the London maker's name 'I & R Warner'.
