This iron plate, marked 'Carron', was made by the Carron Company near Falkirk in Stirlingshire.

Iron plate marked Carron

The Carron Company was established in 1759, near Falkirk, by a group of entrepreneurs. It was by far the largest enterprise of its kind in Scotland and used local ore, smelted by coke.
