This crystal ball, dating from between the 13th and 15th century, was used as a charm. In medieval times, many people believed in the power of charms and amulets to ward off illness and other evils.

The round rock crystal is more convex on the front than the back. It is mounted in white metal with a suspension loop for the chain.
