Glass milk bottle

This 20th-century glass milk bottle was produced for the Thistle Dairy in Thistle Street in Edinburgh.

The name and address of the dairy is printed in red on the side of the bottle. In the mouth of the bottle is a circle of paper with the words 'Milk for vigour & victory' printed on it.

In Victorian times, milk or dairy produce could be bought fresh from the country or from cattle housed and milked in town dairies.
