BottleThis glass beer bottle is one of a collection of bottles and stoppers found in a rubbish dump near Tulliallan Castle in Kincardine in Fife. It dates from the 19th century. The bottle was produced for the Younger's brewery in Alloa in Clackmannanshire. The dark green bottle is moulded on one side with the beer manufacturer's name and trademark. The stopper is attached with a wire clip. In Victorian times, advertising grew and was used by manufacturers as a way of appealing to their customers. Brand goods were developed and certain types of container were recycled. These included bottles which were a useful means of advertising products.
