This glass bottle for aerated water was found at Clydebank in Glasgow. It dates from the 19th century. It was produced for Hunter and Bennie, a Glasgow manufacturer of aerated water.

The front of the bottle is moulded with the manufacturer's details: 'Hunter & Bennie, H & B, Glasgow'.

In Victorian times, advertising grew and was used by manufacturers as a way of appealing to their customers. Brand goods were developed and certain types of container were recycled. These included bottles which were a useful means of advertising products.
