Lemonade bottle of green glass

This glass lemonade bottle was produced for R. Hunter, a lemonade manufacturer in Edinburgh. The bottle dates from the 19th century.

The bottle has a paper label on the shoulder with the lemonade manufacturer's details printed on it. The bottle has a cork.

In Victorian times, advertising grew and was used by manufacturers as a way of appealing to their customers. Brand goods were developed and certain types of container were recycled. These included bottles which were a useful means of advertising products.
