Spoon

This horn spoon is from Aberdeenshire.

The handle is cut with the letters 'GT'.

Cattle horn was heated to soften it and moulded to make spoons and other utensils. Such natural resources provided the things people needed for everyday life. Without access to manufactured goods, and without money to buy them, people had little choice.
