Hussif

A 'hussif', also known as a 'housewife', is a container for implements used in knitting, needlework and lace making. This example, from Moniaive in Dumfriesshire, dates from the 19th century.

The hussif contains a pin cushion with wire-headed pins, scissors, a thread box and a fleerish.
