Ring, associated with Charles II

This gold ring contains a miniature of Charles II. It dates from the late 17th century.

The miniature of the king is under glass in the bezel. It shows Charles wearing a white collar and a blue ribbon.

Many pieces of jewellery commemorate the later Stewart monarchs, particularly after the execution of Charles I in 1649. The pieces were worn by supporters of the Scottish dynasty and handed down through their families into the 18th century.
