This silver betrothal ring dates from the late 15th century.

The ring has a common hand-in-hand device. There are small nielloed panels around the hoop bearing the letters 'II IESUS NA' - a shortened form of the talismanic inscription 'Jesus of Nazareth, King of Jews'.

Rings such as this, with hand-in-hand designs, are known as 'fede' rings.
