Wine glass

This wine glass, decorated with the Inglis coat of arms, dates from the second half of the 18th century.

Wine glass with the enamelled coat of arms of Inglis, 1750 - 1800

Large amounts of wine, brandy, sherry and port were imported into Scotland, particularly by the wine merchants of Edinburgh. Transported in wooden barrels, the wine was transferred into bottles by local merchants before sale.
