Add to album

This cut glass goblet, possibly made at the glassworks in Leith, is reputed to have been used at a George IV banquet in Edinburgh in 1822.

The bowl is engraved with a crown and a wreath of thistles.

Glass was made in Scotland from at least the 17th century. By the 19th century high quality domestic and art glass was being made at centres in Edinburgh, Leith, Glasgow, Perth and Alloa.
