This glass wine bottle is from Aytoun Castle in Berwickshire. It dates from the late 17th century.

This onion-shaped bottle is made of green glass and has a concave base.

There was a castle at Aytoun throughout the Medieval period. It was destroyed in 1498. A second castle was destroyed by fire in 1834 and was replaced in 1851 by a castellated mansion.
