Firemark, of Dundee Fire Assurance Company

In the 18th and 19th century, insurance companies fixed their own firemarks to the buildings they covered to allow their fire brigades to recognise 'their' buildings. This is the firemark of the Dundee Fire Assurance Company. It is made of lead.

The firemark is inscribed 'DUNDEE 2216'.
