Coin die, for reverse of Charles II sixteenth dollar

This coin die is for the reverse of a Charles II sixteenth dollar. It dates from 1681.

The design on the die features a saltire cross with a crown over the centre. In the angles are a thistle, a rose, a fleur-de-lis and a harp. The Latin inscription translates as: 'King of Scots, England, France and Ireland'.

The coin struck from this die was worth three shillings and four pence Scots.
