This is an incomplete iron coin die for striking the reverse of Charles II silver quarter-dollars. It dates from between 1676 and 1682.
The die has cruciform crowned shields around a central pair of interlinked 'C's. The shields are empty, apart from one which contains the outline for a coat of arms.
