This is an incomplete iron coin die for striking the obverse of Charles II silver quarter-dollars. It dates from between 1676 and 1682.
The die has a bust of Charles II crowned with a laurel wreath. The finished die would have had an inscription around the edge translated as: 'Charles II, by the Grace of God'.
