This fragment from a sundial was found in 1964 at the foot of Craig More, near Kilchoman House on Islay in Argyll.

Stone sundials, showing the time both at home and around the world, were very popular in the planned gardens of castles and mansion houses in 17th century Scotland. They reflected the growing interest in science and the natural world.
