Gold ring with a miniature of Charles I

This gold ring is set with a miniature of Charles I.

The fluted shoulders of the ring are decorated with a pattern of semicircles.

Jewellery commemorating Charles I and Charles II was worn by those demonstrating their loyalty to Scotland's ancient dynasty. Such items were handed down through families who supported the Stewarts into the 18th century.
