Locket, associated with Charles I

This gold locket commemorates Charles I. It dates from around 1650.

The locket contains a miniature, set under glass, of Charles I. He is depicted wearing a white collar and blue ribbon. The locket has a suspension loop and a free ring.

After the execution of Charles I, many pieces of jewellery were produced to commemorate the 'Martyr King' and to foster allegiance to the Stewart cause.
