Silver brooch set with granite

This silver brooch, set with grey and pink polished Aberdeenshire granite, dates from the late 19th century.

Silver lettering around the brooch makes up the city name 'ABERDEEN'.

Alongside the more usual agates and bloodstones, Aberdeenshire granite was popular for making jewellery.
