Ring brooch (front)
Add to album

A ring brooch is a simple ring of brass, bronze or silver with a free swivelling pin. This is the front of a silver ring brooch made in Inverness by Thomas Borthwick around 1775.

The front is decorated with a pattern of deer's heads and flowers.

Ring brooches were popular in the north of Scotland from the 17th century and were worn by women to pin their shawls together.
