This pair of earrings set with pebbles dates from the late 17th century. The earrings form part of a collection of jewellery which includes buckles and a necklace. They are amongst the earliest examples of pebble-set jewellery in Scotland.
The polished pebbles are mounted in pinchbeck - an alloy of copper and zinc which was used as imitation gold.
