Man's coat

This coat was discovered on a man's body found at Gunnister in Northmavine in Shetland in the late 17th century. When he died, the man was wearing a coat, breeches, cap and stockings.

The coat is unlined and has no collar.

Among the possessions found with the body were a staved vessel, a horn spoon, a knife handle, a quill and writing board, a knitted woollen purse and a silk ribbon.
