Gold enamelled locket

This enamelled gold locket was found near Corsewall Castle in Wigtownshire. It dates from the late 16th century.

The locket has cloisonne scrolls and, in the centre, a small frame which would have once contained a miniature portrait. There is a suspension loop at the top.
