Knitting needle container with a view of Tighnabruaich

This knitting needle container has a view of Tighnabruaich in Argyll. It dates from the 19th century and is made of wood.

Knitting needle container in the form of a cylinder of yellow varnished wood in two pieces, the larger having on its side a transfer picture of a bay with house and hills behind Tighnabruaich

19th-century wooden souvenirs, which were produced in vast quantities, often featured images of local views. They are a permanent record of the holiday journeys made in Scotland, and of the images which, for the holidaymakers, represented Scotland.
