Bracelet, with view of Edinburgh Castle

This wooden bracelet is painted with a view of Edinburgh Castle. The bracelet dates from the 19th century.

The bracelet is made of wooden plates painted in tartans.

19th-century wooden souvenirs, which were produced in vast quantities, often featured images of local views. They are a permanent record of the holiday journeys made in Scotland, and of the images which, for the holidaymakers, represented Scotland.
