This cylindrical wooden ruler has a view of North Berwick in East Lothian. The ruler dates from the 19th century.

Cylindrical desk ruler of yellow varnished wood with a knob at each end, with a transfer picture of North Berwick

19th-century wooden souvenirs, which were produced in vast quantities, often featured images of local views. They are a permanent record of the holiday journeys made in Scotland, and of the images which, for the holidaymakers, represented Scotland.
