Chamber candlestick and a snuffer
A chamber candlestick was designed to be carried easily to a bedchamber. This silver example with conical snuffer was made by Glasgow silversmith Robert Gray & Sons in 1809-10.
The chamber candlestick has a hemispherical pan set on a square foot. In the centre of the pan is a circular sconce. The conical snuffer is attached by a chain to the candlestick handle.
