Wedding ring, made in Inverness

This gold wedding ring was made in the 1870s by Fergusson Brothers in Inverness.

The ring consists of a plain circular band with slightly convex outer face.

In 1855 the registration of birth, marriages and deaths became compulsory. Local authorities, rather than the churches, now recorded them so as to monitor population change.
