Mug

This silver gilt mug was made by Edinburgh silversmith Lawrence Oliphant. It is dated 1744-5.

The mug is decorated all over with rococo shells, flowers, scrolls and leaves.

This type of rococo decoration covering almost all of the piece was rare in Scottish silver.
