Tea caddy

This silver tea caddy was made by Glasgow silversmiths Milne and Campbell, around 1765.

The caddy is heavily chased in chinoiserie design. This is a style of decorative art based on imitations of Chinese motifs. It was particularly fashionable in the mid-18th century.
