Pair of Scottish pistols, owned by Louis XIII of France
Add to album

This outstanding pair of brass pistols was made by James Low of Dundee in 1611. The heraldry on the barrels and scratched inventory marks indicate that these belonged to Louis XIII of France, a notable collector of firearms.

Each pistol has a snaphance lock mechanism which uses a flint to spark the gunpowder.
