Ceiling (Detail)

This is a detail of part of a painted oak ceiling from Guthrie Church in Angus. The ceiling dates from the late 15th century and is the only painted ceiling surviving from before the Reformation.

The painting depicts the Last Judgement and this detail shows Christ sitting in judgement on humanity.

The other part of the ceiling shows the Crucifixion.
